The BFC and TikTok will work together to evolve The Fashion Awards as a global entertainment platform, celebrating fashion's role at the intersection of culture.
To deliver this new proposition, the event's format will change to include awards, performances and will highlight unique cultural moments from the past year. The 2021 accolades include fifteen Leaders of Change; the designers, brands, creatives, and individuals who created positive change within the fashion industry this past year under three categories: Environment, People and Creativity. As The Fashion Awards return on November 29th, we look forward to working with TikTok on expanding the event’s global reach, opening it up to new audiences and celebrating exceptional individuals and businesses that have made significant contributions to the global fashion community.”
Rich Waterworth, General Manager, TikTok Europe, said: “We are delighted to be the Principal Partner for The Fashion Awards. This iconic event and evening of entertainment will be LIVE streamed on TikTok, allowing our community to experience the magic of the Red Carpet like never before, as we take a moment to celebrate the very best of British and international fashion culture. This year fashion has thrived on TikTok, from our partnership with BFC NEWGEN which saw the future of British design talent come to TikTok to share their creativity, to the emergence of unique trends and style movements ignited by our creator community. Fashion really has found a home on TikTok.”
The Fashion Awards presented by TikTok raises funds for the BFC Foundation (Registered Charity Number: 1185152) which supports the future growth and success of the British fashion industry by focusing on Talent, Education, Grant-Giving and Business Mentoring and aims to improve equality and opportunity so that the fashion industry remains diverse and open to all, helping talented designers at all stages of their career from school level through to becoming a global fashion brand. In 2020/21, the BFC raised £1.7 million for the BFC Foundation, and its talent support initiatives and this year the charity supported 33 designers.
