Gap has unveiled GapStudio, a bold new venture that represents the pinnacle of the brand’s style, craftsmanship, and quality. Designed within Gap’s New York headquarters, GapStudio debuts with Collection 01, created by acclaimed designer Zac Posen. The collection, set to launch on April 3, emphasizes expert tailoring, intricate detailing, and a contemporary interpretation of American fashion. This initiative marks the beginning of GapStudio’s ongoing commitment to exploring the intersection of fashion, art, and creativity.
Mark Breitbard, President and CEO of Gap, emphasized the brand’s evolution with GapStudio. For more than five decades, Gap has served as a platform for creative reinvention, allowing individuals to reinterpret its classic designs. With GapStudio, the brand elevates this legacy, offering both accessible retail collections and exclusive, statement-making pieces. Breitbard highlighted that GapStudio reinforces Gap’s cultural relevance by celebrating individuality and self-expression through fashion.
The launch campaign for GapStudio Collection 01 was captured by renowned fashion photographer Mario Sorrenti, with styling by Alastair McKimm. The striking visuals feature supermodels Alex Consani, Imaan Hammam, and Anok Yai, embodying the collection’s fusion of sophistication and modernity. The campaign reflects GapStudio’s ambition to merge high fashion with Gap’s timeless aesthetic.
Zac Posen, Gap Inc.’s Executive Vice President and Creative Director, described GapStudio as a hub where craftsmanship, creativity, and culture converge. The New York-based studio serves as a space for innovation, where Posen has designed red-carpet-worthy looks and plans to collaborate with other visionary talents. Collection 01 introduces a fresh perspective on tailoring, incorporating innovative denim treatments that reshape and refine the fabric in unexpected ways. Posen hinted that this collection is just the start of GapStudio’s creative journey.
GapStudio Collection 01 reimagines wardrobe staples with Posen’s signature draping, tailoring, and construction techniques. Standout pieces include the Denim Tailored Trench Coat ($248) and the Double-Breasted Denim Blazer ($178), which introduce new proportions and finishes. The collection also features matching separates like the High Rise Denim Sailor Pant ($128) and Denim Sailor Skort ($118). Additionally, the Poplin Maxi Shirtdress ($158), which sold out in its limited release last year, returns in two new color options.
The color palette of Collection 01 revisits classic Gap tones such as navy and khaki while introducing a vibrant “pop-orange” shade—a nod to the brand’s San Francisco origins. By blending timeless elements with modern innovation, GapStudio establishes itself as a dynamic force in fashion, setting the stage for future collections that will continue to push boundaries and inspire creativity.
