Ethical Brand PANGAIA Collaborates with Skatedeck Designer and Fine Artist Haroshi
Written by Cassell Ferere
An all-around and truly ethical brand, Pangaia, has released some cool new t-shirts in collaboration with skateboarder and self-taught skate deck designer and sculptor, Haroshi. Known for his wood art, which dabble in the surrealism of everyday objects and recognizable forms.
Displaying 4 unique sculptures created by Haroshi in his signature style; using salvaged skateboard decks, layered together and sculpted into whatever his mind can think of. Usually creating and the colorfully banded form resembles a part of life. Each sculpture is designed with a broken piece of skate deck in the center as in creating a soul for the finished piece, inspired by the 12th-century sculptor, Unkei who would put a crystal ball inside each Buddhist sculpture.
These t-shirts are made from “seaweed fiber, natural dyes made from plants, fruits, and vegetables, flower down, recycled materials—all used to create high-end contemporary products.” Pangaia is leading the way for streetwear and the entire fashion industry, setting an example of how to make sustainable products that are still desirable, produced with high-end quality. Producing limited quantities, they are keeping their footprint to a minimum with this drop.
