Day 2: Afropunk Brooklyn 2019
Death Grips stage during Afropunk
The Climax:
We had a lot to take in after Saturday. Jill Scott closed the day with her soulfulness and realness. But, Sunday was the perfect treat for wrapping the weekend up. Sounds of jazz, multiple genres of rock, some aggressive lyrics from Danny Brown complemented with Santigold’s powerful rhetoric, put to bed by a seductive performance by FKA Twigs. She definitely showed up and showed out with 8 outfit changes, some styled by Nike. All of her dancers and musicians were also dripped in Nike gear. A “chill day” would sum up this half of Afropunk and the people came out to soak up the traveling festival’s climactic night.
