6 Things You Need To Organize A Memorable Party This July 4th
By PAGE Editor
Partying has always been a true necessity, especially for young people around the globe, and with certain changes regarding the looks, type of music, and occasion, it still is a way to communicate, show social status, meet and greet and generally have fun.
The urge and need for everyone to experience a certain valve for the stress, uncertainty, and social distancing caused by the recent pandemic and its eminent ending, has brought up the possibility to organize parties once again.
So, if you’re going to organize one, besides the general excitement and guests’ party craving that are in your favor, here are some other things that you can include while arranging to be sure to create a memorable one.
What’s the Occasion
Some important moments in one’s life will always call for some kind of celebration - birthdays, graduations, weddings, new jobs, promotions… These are the constant cause for a party and you should be aware of the occasion as it affects who you’re going to call, where the party can be organized, what music, design and decorating will you use and if there’s going to be food and/or alcohol.
Next, it depends if you’re organizing your life’s big event or you’re doing it for somebody else, or your child.
Birthday and graduation parties are most popular among the younger population (the celebration of your birthday in a party manner declines the older you get, unfortunately), but other big events call for a proper party too. Organizing a party without an occasion is possible too, and they’re happening (the parents are on a trip), but having one is giving legibility, theme, and the thrill.
The Choice of Music
What comes to your mind when you think of a party, any party? It’s the music, as the greatest mood bringer, or swinger. You can have everything thought through - the location, the refreshments, the layout… but it’s the music, and the choice of it, that makes your party fun, or dull. Nobody will remember the drinks or the decoration, not even how great the sound was if the music doesn’t match the occasion, fashion, or the age of guests invited.
After setting the occasion for your party, this is the next biggest detail to think about and plan through. The best thing would be to make a playlist of party songs that will build up your repertoire of hit tunes. If you’re too perplexed to do it on your own, or if you’re not having enough time to dedicate or you’re simply not sure if the people will like it - there are amazing online suggestions, depending on what they’re listening to these days and what are the most popular songs. This is an easy and stress-free way to make sure people will dance, sing and - remember.
The Choice of People
Again, it has to do with the occasion of the party and who is expected, invited and for who is the party organized. There are basically two currents of action.
One is inviting people that already know each other, from a specific circle of friends, or colleagues, and playing on the card of familiarity and certainty. You cannot go wrong in this case, as you will probably know what kind of music they’re listening to, what behavior to expect and how could you surpass the expectations.
On the other hand, you may choose to organize a party with people from different spheres of your life, that don’t know each other and compel them to mingle and meet. Some parties might even start with invitations, but end up with more people learning about them, and all of a sudden, you’re party is full of “parachutists” (high school parties in particular). In these situations, you can expect unpredictable, but they’re more likely to turn out memorable.
To Eat and To Drink
This mostly depends, again, on the occasion. During a wedding or a birthday party, your guests might expect some food, but drinking refreshments are always a must. If it’s a minor’s party, sodas, sandwiches, punches, and snacks are expected, but for the olders’ parties, it’s almost always some sort of alcohol.
For a party to become and remain memorable, snacks and sips are not directly influential, but they’re going to be noticed, without a doubt. One of the unwritten rules is that if you’re expecting alcohol to be consumed, it is advised to have a nibbling option.
Location, Location
Most minor parties, such as birthday celebrations, will be happening at home or some sort of organized playrooms, but all the others should be well thought. It is not the same when you’re organizing a party at home, an abandoned factory, on the beach, or in the club. The sound system should be taken into consideration, the acoustics of the place, space, storage, restrooms, transport, and safety.
Lately, under the pandemic restrictions, the rise of the so-called Covid home parties was very notable. If you’re having a close group of friends, family, and colleagues, and everything’s being socially responsible, it is not impossible to make a memorable pandemic party.
Surely you can expect more people to come if the location is already extravagant, and also have in mind that it’s not very likely for your party to be memorable if it’s happening somewhere where everybody’s having parties or if the impression will be spoiled by its inaccessibility.
Ace(s) Up Your Sleeve
Apart from basic elements that make a party, everywhere, you can add some smart factors that could only enhance the mood and make your party fresh, standing out, and different.
Lightning - everybody knows that artificial and strong brightness kills the mood so make sure to get the lightning strings, dim the lights or get some of those moving light units.
Joker - a person you know that everyone loves and wants to be around, someone to joke around or literally make tricks, someone that lights up the room and make everything fun and interesting.
Decorations - give your guests a theme of the party and set them in the mood. Consider the dress-up party where everyone dresses in a way that fits the overall theme.
If you give your party a thought, take some time to plan elements, and consider a budget, there is no need to worry if your guests will not like it. But covering all the bases, knowing your guests, whether if it’s two of them or many more, and doing a little bit extra for them… will certainly leave a pleasant memory.
